Defibrillators everywhere

The law that provides for the maximum diffusion of defibrillators was approved in the Chamber on 28/07/2021

On July 28, 2021, a law that provides for the maximum distribution of defibrillators, in public administrations, airports, railway stations, on board means of transport, in public places and in workplaces, received the final go-ahead in the Chamber of Deputies. . The law also provides for training courses in schools, to inform and educate young people and citizens to be able to intervene promptly to help those affected by a heart attack.

Cardiac arrest is a silent killer that is the leading cause of death in Western countries. The survival rate is linked to the timeliness of the defibrillation intervention. Every minute that passes from the moment of cardiac arrest, the chance of survival drops by 10%: after 5 minutes the chances of rescue are 50%, after 10 minutes they are zero. Survival from cardiac arrest is currently less than 10% without early defibrillation systems. Scientific data, on the other hand, indicates that survival in the event of cardiac arrest occurs in 46% of cases, when immediate intervention is carried out with a defibrillator. A survival rate that in cardioprotected cities like Piacenza rises to 93% thanks to the widespread presence of defibrillators.

TECO's Training Sector is available to organize training courses for the use of defibrillators.
